The most important thing about this V12 powered Lincoln convertible is that it is not a Continental. It is much more rare and distinctive. This convertible is resplendent in Valley Green with green leather interior, matching green carpets and a tan cloth top and top boot. Its 305cid Flathead V12 engine drive through an overdrive 3-speed transmission giving it performance that will comfortably keep up with today's freeway traffic. As expected for Ford's top-of-the-line marque, it is comprehensively equipped including pushbutton radio, heater, clock, rear fender skirts with delicious chrome embellishments, hubcaps, trim rings and power windows. The restoration evidences very high quality workmanship and materials throughout, especially in the exceptionally crisp and sharp grille and trim chrome work - an area of these cars which is frighteningly expensive to restore and therefore frequently given short shrift in restorations - and the precise fit and function of the pushbutton-operated doors. The chassis, drivetrain and engine are like new. The 1948 Lincolns were succeeded very early in 1948 by the completely re-designed 1949 Lincolns and Cosmopolitans. Only 6,470 1948 Lincolns were built in all body styles. Of them, the convertible is far and away the most rare and sought by collectors and this is an exceptionally fine and sympathetically restored example that needs absolutely no excuses.
