1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Sport Sedan
Sold at Auction: $22,000
152bhp, 337 cu. in. V8 engine, Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 125"
A veritable time capsule, this 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan shows approximately 19,000 original miles, and is remarkably original with the exception of a single repaint. The handsome black exterior finish remains glossy and is complemented by very good brightwork, front and rear bumper guards, black painted steel wheels with full chrome-plated hubcaps, trim rings, and period correct wide whitewall tires. The attractive interior is trimmed with beige upholstery and carpeting, remaining period correct and benefiting from thoughtful care and maintenance. All controls and switches, as well as the dash and steering wheel are equally eye-catching, and the car is well-equipped with power windows, a pushbutton-operated AM radio, heater, and Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
Appealing, distinctive, and mostly original, this Cosmopolitan is a wonderful example of Lincoln’s growing stature during the 1950's, and will be a lovely addition to any collection of fine post-war American automobiles.
