Although it may appear to be a 1968 model, the Lincoln Continental was built in 1967, the last year that a factory Lincoln convertible was offered to the public, then retrofitted with trim from a 1968 model to update its appearance. One of three built, it has a removable plastic top, also known as a "bubbletop", that could be installed on special brackets after the convertible top had been lowered.

This elegant car was assigned to the Secret Service in New York City until it was retired from the motor pool in 1974. During its service, a large number of political and religious leaders and celebrities have ridden in this car including Pope Paul VI, New York Mayor John Lindsay, Henry Kissinger, Bob Hope and Gene Autry.
